When a fantastic opportunity arises to exhibit in a leading outdoor sculpture exhibition close to 2,000 kilometres away. The financial and logistical challenges presented to regional artists when considering entry to a major exhibition further a field are often insurmountable without some form of assistance.
Plonk Art is the result of the combined approach of the Satterley Property Group’s Smithfield Village, the Cairns Regional Council and the Swell Sculpture Festival. It was initiated to provide support for an artist within the Cairns Regional Council geographical area to exhibit at the Swell Sculpture Festival.
Equestrian sculptor Jennie Scott was selected as the recipient for the 2009 Plonk Art funding and was awarded associated costs of exhibiting in the exhibition such as travel, freight, packing and insurance.
Swell Sculpture Festival is proud to be associated with Plonk Art to strengthen opportunities for regional artists.
