Swell Sculpture 2008 will present an exhibition of 50 leading sculptors along the impressive Currumbin Beach, using the ocean and natural landforms as a backdrop. The sculptures are built for the outdoor environment and utilise materials such as steel, bronze, timber, stone, glass and copper.

Swell Smalls Gallery
The Swell Smalls Gallery is an exhibition of smaller works by the exhibiting artists of the Swell Sculpture Festival. A selection of dynamic, beautiful and energising pieces are presented at The Way of Design Gallery adjacent to the beachfront along Pacific Parade. The exhibition will run from the 5th - 21st September 2008

Twilight Walks
Guided Twilight Walks allow visitors to gain an insight and understanding into the sculptured works. These run Sunday and Wednesday evenings at 5pm commencing at sculpture 1, the northern Currumbin Alley end.

Public Art Symposium

Public Art - is it a waste of space of does it energise our public spaces and transform our everyday life?
The one day symposium, run in conjunction with the main exhibition, will explore the topic with keynote speakers plus panel discussions.
Keynote Speakers include Associate Professor Patricia Wise, Nicole Voevodin-Cash, Andrew Trump and Louise Dauth with Antone Bruinsma and Ian Brazier joining the panel discussion.

Session 3 - Initiating New Visions through Policy and Partnerships Andrew Trump – GCCC Cultural Development Officer

The audience is encouraged to participate in these discussions to determine whether Public Art is an Object or an Experience.
