About Lyn Haddon
Lyn Haddon is an emerging Brisbane artist, working in contemporary jewellery, sculpture, installation, and public art.
Lyn’s work speaks of society’s impact on nature and individuals, including the Anthropocene, eco-anxiety, and material preciousness. She represents nature in very un-natural ways and addresses dark themes, without the darkness.
Lyn uses nature and technology to demonstrate the power of a collective group to create positive change in the environment. Her work conveys hope, that small changes CAN make a difference, especially if we all work together.
2023 SWELL ARTWORK – Blue Butterfly Effect
‘Blue Butterfly Effect’ demonstrates the power of a collective group to create change in the environment.
Hundreds of metallic butterflies rest peacefully in seaside foliage, recharging in the sun. Sensing the presence of passers-by, the butterflies light up and begin to flutter their wings. Slowly and gently at first, then fluttering their wings vigorously as additional onlookers gather. Their wings clash against one another, emitting a metallic tinging noise.
Our individual actions may seem insignificant, but collectively they can have an enormous effect on our environment.
