Nikita Zigura Ukraine – Drop of Wine

What’s your favourite aspect of being an artist?

My favourite moment is when I finish a work, when a draft finds embodiment in a perfect creation.

Do you have a favourite material you like to work with?

I mostly work with clay.

Would you rather share an Uber with Barbara Hepworth or Cornelia Parker or Antony Gormley?

I would love to share a ride with Antony Gormley.

If you could meet any artist (from the past or present) who would it be?

With Rodin at the height of his career, in his own studio.

A world without art would be…

So sad.  Art is impressive and beautiful.

If you could pick a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) to describe your style what would it be?

Becherovka is a delicious, traditional and high quality herbal liqueur.

Beach goer or city slicker or outback lover?

All of the above.

Do you find making art a therapeutic or chaotic process?

Definitely therapeutic.

Where/how were you inspired to create your SWELL 2020 piece?

I’m preparing for my SWELL debut so the whole preparation is very delightful and exciting!

What do you want the public to see through your current artwork?

In my sculptures, viewers will be able to see the whole world, concentrated in the object.

Was the location of SWELL a contributing factor towards the inspiration of your piece?

Yes, without a doubt! A quiet lagoon on the shore of the ocean was my dream location for my work “Drop.”
