Featuring ‘Balter Birds’ by Nick Warfield

“I have enjoyed a long & rich relationship with the birds of my backyard for the extent of my 16-year Art Practice. I have my eye on them, and I have suspected for a while now that they too have their eye on me. This relationship, which feels mythic in nature, has provided me with a meaningful muse. If I am to make a sculpture of King Parrots for example, I am artistically compelled to show to the King Parrots in my backyard that I am paying them the proper respect. I am not interested in showing that through anatomical representation. I am interested in the King Parrots natural style and the spirit in which it lives. I am interested in how I see myself through the eyes of the Parrot I am interested in, whether or not, I am going to get the odd nod from one, as I sit on my porch, drinking a beer and giving them my attention.”

Nick Warfield is an Australian sculptor/Artist whose work transforms salvaged materials into evocative sculptures inspired by the natural world. Based on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, his practice is grounded in resourcefulness, process and a deep relationship with Country, drawing together influences from Indigenous art, Constructivism and Classical Art and the mythology embued in landscape and wildlife.

For more than 15 years, Nick Warfield has built a full-time practice creating award-winning sculptures and major public artworks exhibited across Australia. His distinctive works—fashioned from reclaimed automotive parts, vintage tins and other discarded materials—celebrate transformation, inviting viewers to see beauty, meaning and story.

Birds are the enduring muse within his practice. More than subjects, they are symbolic companions that guide an intuitive and contemplative creative process. Nick Warfield views sculpture as a way of listening and responding—to the rhythms of nature, to myth it speaks, and to the ongoing conversation between people and place.

Today, Nick Warfield lives and works near Bowraville, NSW, where he is raising two wonderful daughters, serves as Artistic Director of the Argents Hill Hall, mentors emerging artists through workshops and community projects, and continues to expand a nationally recognised sculptural practice that unites resourcefulness, storytelling and country.

Our mission as a brewery is simple, good beer with enjoyment, and our Taproom is both of those things in abundance.

Nestled in the heart of Currumbin on the Gold Coast, this is a place where everybody is welcome no matter your level of beer knowledge. With a rotating roster of fresh, limited release beers, gin fizz, largarita, non-alc options, plus food from the best regional food trucks. Live music on weekends and weekly happenings, we know we’ve done our job if people are walking out with a smile on their face like the one on our beer.

After an expansion, our original warehouse style set up, now neighbours a sun-drenched beer garden and colourful upper-mezzanine bar.
