Your Commitment

• Volunteer for a minimum of 2–3 shifts
• Choose from morning, afternoon or evening shifts
• Attend one volunteer briefing session

General Exhibition Volunteer

Provide assistance at the designated hubs and marquee at SWELL, greeting visitors, offering information about what’s on and assisting with program sales. This role also includes collecting surveys and voting forms, water and sunscreen runs, general assistance, and welcoming visitors with a smile.

Site Crew

Requires hard yakka and strength to keep the site looking pristine and presentable. This role involves shovelling, maintenance of sculpture sites, and restorative work on signs, tents, flags and banners.

SWELL Kids Elements & Workshops Volunteer

Provide assistance to artists during and after morning and afternoon workshop sessions, including preparing the workshop space, setting up materials and cleaning up at the conclusion. Volunteers in this role are required to hold a valid Blue Card.

Sculpture Patrol Volunteer

Provide a presence to encourage positive interaction with the sculpture and to assist monitoring the site in general during peak periods.

Evening Volunteer

Assist with evening activities such as twilight walks, video projections, marquee activities and lighting.

SWELL Fringe Volunteer

Assist with hospitality at the SWELL Fringe Bar, events, masterclasses, live music and more. A current RSA is required.

While we will always try to allocate your preferred volunteer role there may be instances when we may need you to cover other areas such as the general exhibition area. We ask for your understanding in this instance.

SWELL offers semester-long internships to qualified undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates interested in the following areas: curation, creative producing, education, programming, design, communications including journalism, digital engagement and human resources.

In addition to assigned projects, interns have the opportunity to learn more about SWELL through conversations and liaising with artists, team development, trips to cultural institutions and discussions with the SWELL team as well as hands on event experience.  If you are interested in an internship with SWELL please contact enquiry@swellsculpture.com.au
