Create your own unique artwork! Russell will guide you on an informative tour of their installation, enlightening you about the project, its backstories and introducing you to the art of frottage.

“Finding Your Way” is an interactive art installation created by Blair Garland and Russell Solomon (BLUSS). Developed in response to the curatorial brief, the work explores themes of diversity, multiculturalism and interconnected community. BLUSS is collaboration between artists Blair Garland and Russell Solomon. They are multidisciplinary artists and life partners, living and working in Redcliffe. They have individual careers exhibiting and winning significant competitions, also they combine their creative forces on specific projects.

Their work germinates from an idea or conversation. They begin by researching a specific site for an artwork, then their individual and unique skills meld, uniting to express the idea. Materials matter to them and having a minimal carbon footprint is important to their visual arts practice.

With support from the National Ethnic Disability Alliance (NEDA) and Creative Gold’s Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), SWELL were able to share the beauty of art with the new generation of Currumbin locale. In 2026, SWELL Sculpture Festival is proud to deliver ‘Finding Your Way,’ a multi-sensory storytelling artwork developed through creative workshops at Currumbin Community Special School with culturally and linguistically diverse students living with a disability.

The Inclusive Arts Program is delivered as part of Creative Gold, a Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) Council-led initiative. RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government and the City of Gold Coast Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland. This program is support by National Ethnic Disability Alliance (NEDA).
