Anthropocene Plastics: The Final Extinction Event
Russell Solomon continues to create engaging, enticing and visually appealing sculptures, luring viewers into this iconic scene of sea turtle hatchlings embarking on the perilous journey to the ocean. His clever use of reshaped milk bottle plastics, offers an opportunity to rethink our ideas around plastics and their waste in the oceans. Recycled copper wire used to represent the gorgeous little hatchlings further adds to the very important message behind this joyous, whimsical artwork. Solomon questions, “will these ever-resilient adorable and curious animals survive the Anthropecene plastic pollution era…?”
