Damien Lucas

Damien Lucas began the study of drawing with David Wilson in Bathurst in 1997, soon expanding to sculpture under master sculptor Tom Bass. Skilled in both classical and modernist styles, he works with clay, plaster, stone, wood, steel, and bronze. As an apprentice to Bass, he absorbed extensive sculptural knowledge and later became the principal teacher at the Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School. Lucas has exhibited widely in NSW and completed public commissions in QLD, VIC, and NSW. He taught at various institutions, including the Tom Bass Studio (2001-2009) and co-founded the Myocum School of Sculpture (2010-2013). Currently, he runs Byron Bay Sculpture School, offering private classes.
Evolution
Evolution represents the plant-like growth of the individual. Making departures at various branches and nodes, we are different people at different times, but always we move towards light and unknown flourishing.
