My name is Arvin Abbassian and I am a trained architect, designer, and artist raised on the Gold Coast, Australia. I hope to add & give back some of these experiences in the form of teaching & contribute to the body of knowledge about sustainability and reconsidering our impact on the ocean.

Excited to join forces with Arvin Abbassian, it is an honour to have the opportunity to contribute to SWELL and the proposed artwork Coral Rehab through parametric design and fabrication. I hope that this artwork will inspire future generations to rehabilitate our endangered coral reefs, providing sanctuary for our ocean life, contributing to the betterment of our natural environment, our society’s conscience and ultimately our world.
2020 SWELL ARTWORK – Coral Rehab, Arvin Abbassian
One of our fasted depleting ecosystems are the coral reefs. Mass bleaching is now striking on an average of 6 years; unprecedented and far too frequent for our ecosystems to recover. Hydroid is a design proposal which moderates ocean temperatures and creates structure for sea life to rehabilitate.
