Edward has 31 years in the arts and entertainment industry producing varied media from websites and interactive multimedia to VFX and animated feature films. With his Visual Arts background, Ed was responsible for the style and production of hundreds of hours of film, television and new media products.
During this time he lead large teams of artists as Senior Producer for: Energee Entertainment, Australia’s largest animation studio; Photon VFX at Warner Bros Studios; and October, New Zealand’s finest TVC, film and interactive production studio.
Some of the larger projects that Ed worked on include: Associate Producer for the animated feature film “The Magic Pudding”; VFX Producer for numerous US films including Walt Disney’s “Inspector Gadget 2”, “George of the Jungle 2” and Sony Screen Gems’ “Boogeyman”. He also produced many television series, pilots and interactive products for national and international clients including ABC (Aus), Viacom (USA), Discovery Channel (USA), RTV (Germany) and the BBC (UK).
During this time Ed has still found avenues to pursue his own creative works. With an Arts major in sculpture, he has produced many ceramic sculptures, however in his latest work, A Hole in the Head, he has created a large sculpture consisting of aluminium sheeting.
2020 SWELL ARTWORK – A Hole in the Head, Edward Trost
A Hole in the Head is a sculpture of a human head whose super-sized scale highlights society’s inability to recognise the enormous detrimental effects of depression. The piece’s central void represents the emptiness pervading the thoughts and feelings of a sufferer as they struggle against a vanishing sense of self and slowly slip behind the façade of shame. A Hole in the Head invites us to see through the stigma and promotes self-acceptance by recognising that strength lies in our vulnerabilities and imperfect is not synonymous with incomplete.
