2020 SWELL ARTWORK – Lobsterarri, Giuseppe Filardo
An item left behind, an empty discarded vessel, a shell, thrown away or forgotten housing something different. Our waste has become a huge problem around the globe, humans should be trying just as giant deep sea creatures or other animals adapt to a change in their environments to utilise these objects in different ways. The famous car has now become an exoskeleton and home for a creature. This giant mutated sea creature is perhaps a metaphor for survival in a quickly changing world.
SWELL Kids Artist Statement – Lobsterarri, Giuseppe Filardo
Lobsterarri is what you get when a lobster grows as a sports car. Think about the rubbish in the world and how we can re-use and recycle it to make it into something else. Think about how our world is always changing and how we have to also change with it. Think about how you can help our world by making your own stuff from rubbish.
Come and see for yourself at SWELL Sculpture Festival, Pacific Parade, Currumbin 11-20 September.
