Since 2007 Emma has worked primarily as an artist in the public realm internationally creating unique, humorous, colourful and interactive installations for a range of government and non-government entities. She graduated with a Masters of Art (Art in Public Space) from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia in late 2009 and continues to work closely with the program to assist in realising projects such as SkypeLab Barranquilla (2017) and Skypelab 1000 Pixel (Berlin, Germany, 2019). Emma´s MA project IMAG_NE won the prestigious Art Gallery of NSW Site Specific Prize at Sculpture by the Sea Bondi in October 2008. IMAG_NE has since toured the world appearing in over 40 sites across Australia, New Zealand, Denmark and the United States.

Since 2011 Emma has lived and worked between Australia and Colombia. In Barranquilla, Colombia Emma is the co-Founder and co-Director of La Casa Verde, an independent art space located in the city’s historic El Prado district. From Barranquilla she continues to expand the audience for her work into the Americas, including the recent commissioning of a permanent versions of IMAG_NE for the City of Santa Clarita (California, USA, 2019) and the City of Port St. Lucie (Florida, 2021).

Emma has exhibited in group shows in Australia, Europe, the USA and Latin America. Her work is held in a number of international public collections and private collections in the US, Colombia, Europe and Australasia including the Randers Kunstmuseum, Denmark and The Cunningham Dax Collection, Melbourne

 

2021 westerlySWELL ARTWORK – WORDPLAY, Emma Anna

westerlySWELL by Emma Anna will incorporate aspects of her WORDPLAY project into two stunning sites across Mudgeeraba and Lower Beechmont via a collection of large- and small-scale interventions, live art elements, and a community-oriented Scrabble-a-thon.
