In 2003 Robert graduated with a diploma in furniture design. Since then he has been busy “mastering” his skills with wood. For Robert, it is a life long journey, so fortunately the passion still burns strong. His furniture pieces have always been sculptural in essence, so engaging with sculpture has been a good and productive fit. At SWELL 2020, he was awarded the Emerging Artist award for his sculpture -Ragnar v Moby. This Sculpture has also been accepted for the Strand Ephemera 2021 in Townsville. Roberts business, ‘Woodlust Design’ is also set for an interesting year of growth and transformation.
2021 SWELL ARTWORK – Bull Shark (What Lies Within), Robert Guenther
What ‘lies’ beneath the surface.
The shark is such an icon of fear.
Its dorsal fin rising up – ominous and foreboding.
Its jaws open with wild intent.
Its wake, strong and powerful.
Now look at this sculpture and think of your own fears and insecurities.
Say the affirmation – “I am brave and unafraid”.
Release your fear and go forth.
Come and see for yourself at SWELL Sculpture Festival, Pacific Parade, Currumbin 10-19 September.
