Lachlan Hegarty is an up and coming independent artist devoted to creating sculptures that encapsulate the wonder of natural phenomenon. Drawing upon his background in the art of timber boat construction, Lachlan incorporates intricate pattern building construction techniques to create bespoke organic forms that capture the essence of the natural world. Each of his pieces allow for wonder, inviting the viewer to engage and interact with their form and reflect on the harmonious connections we hold with the biosphere.
2023 SWELL ARTWORK – Golden Ground
‘Golden Ground’ explores the harmonious complexities and wonders of the biosphere. Highlighting the underground intricate mycelium network, through the embodiment of golden mushroom blooms. The wonderment of this natural phenomenon shines up through the mushroom gills, casting a magical glow out onto the land. Illuminating the golden beauty that dwells deep beneath the ground and the powerful system that creates such a delicate ephemeral lifeform.
