In more recent years Michael settled with his wife Leita on the Gold Coast and set up his own ‘Artisans Gallery’ in Chirn Park. Michael’s artworks are typically oil and acrylic paintings. Michael has a love of classic car restorations and this passion has inspired his latest piece, ‘Shark Rod’.
2023 SWELL ARTWORK – SHARK ROD
‘Shark Rod’ explores the relationship between the 1970s classic Australian manufactured motor vehicles (Holden, Valiant and Ford) and the love of beach life.
Sharks are one of the most powerful fluid creatures of the ocean and these common characteristics can be found in our very own muscle cars.
The gills are reminiscent of the GTS Holden Monaro flutes and the shark’s head and nose rally with the sloping front guards of the mighty XC GT Ford Falcon.
The muscular tail made from the Valiant Pacer fenders as it masterfully navigates it’s way over sweeping bitumen to delight and bedazzle it’s onlookers…. this beast just had to be built!
