Can you describe your creative process from concept to completion?
My typical creative process begins with determining a direction or concept I would like to work with and create a series of pieces from. I then plan the different directions I can take with this concept and start to visual how this idea might form. I then illustrate my ideas typically digitally and then print and transfer these illustrations onto a vessel I’ve created with clay.
Where do you look for inspiration? What themes do you find most interesting?
Living on the coast I like to draw from my surrounding environments capturing the beauty of my local environment. I live closely to Tamborine Mountain so a lot of inspiration of the native fauna and landscape comes from the mountains and the costal environments of the Gold Coast.
What role does location or environment play in your sculptures?
I like to incorporate location and space heavily into the planning and concept of my sculptures to be able to convey and tell a narrative between environment and my pieces.
How do you feel when you see people interacting with your sculptures?
As my first year being apart of the festival this is the first time I am creating a series of sculptures so I’m incredibly excited to see how the public interacts with my sculptures.
