ELERI JONES & JORDACHE GAGE
Eleri Jones is an architect and visual artist based on Yugambeh Country (Gold Coast). Her piece, FINITY, won the 2023 SWELL Sculpture Festival Neumann Family award. Eleri’s large scale work uses the familiar tangibility of industrial equipment to express the ephemeral nature of existence. Jordache Gage is an Abstract Surrealist Artist from Meanjin (Brisbane) with over a decade of experience in public art. Starting with public space manipulation, he evolved into mural work, exploring deeper conceptual ideas and self-expression. His current practice, influenced by his experiences as a family man, visually navigates his personal journey. Gage exhibits both nationally and internationally. Jones and Gage are collaborating for the first time at the SWELL Sculpture Festival 2024.
FINITY 2024
Gravity and time release sand back to its origin over 10 days of festivities. The earth has finite resources, and the way these materials change and interact is infinite. The atoms in your body have been part of many things before, yet here you are, creating ripples and patterns on earth that will affect all tomorrows once again. The sand timer has evolved into a new form—a canvas, a collaboration, an adaptation. By becoming more than the sum of its parts, a legacy of this moment remains.
Come and see for yourself at SWELL Sculpture Festival, Pacific Parade, Currumbin 6th – 15th September.
