GABE PARKER
Brisbane-based sculptor, Gabe Parker creates naturally abstract works through a freeform, hand-fabrication process. His pieces, self-referential yet evocative of the natural environment, are crafted from steel – nod to his family’s history as steelworkers since the 1930s. Gabe’s mastery of this challenging medium results in unique sculptures held in private collections and public art spaces around Brisbane. He continues to exhibit in private and regional galleries and participates regularly in major competitions nationwide.
‘Connected by Environments’ represents the colours and dynamics of the Earth’s biosphere. The orange/ red base symbolises the Earth, the yellow represents the flowers in the overhead forests and their birdlife, and the blue orb represents the atmosphere, central to all life on Earth and our connections to it. This playful composition is completed when surrounded by the greens of plant life.
