Claire Bear

Claire Bear is an abstract painter, her artistic practice explores themes of playfulness, colour, and geometric forms; translating these concepts across both two and three-dimensional surfaces. Claire holds a Diploma in Visual Art from TAFE (2023) and is currently studying her fine art education at Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art and Design.
Claire is deeply inspired by Artist-Run Initiatives (ARIs) and their role in bringing artists together to foster collaboration and creative exchange. This inspiration led her to both produce and curate two successful exhibitions. Additionally, she has exhibited her work with Side Gallery and the University of Queensland’s (UQ) School of Fine Arts (SoFa), further expanding her involvement within the local artistic community.
‘Vivd Playground’ explores the transformation of simple shapes into vibrant forms, infused with luminous colours. The shapes, varied in size and depth, come together to create a layered composition.
The inspiration behind Vivd Playground is drawn from the bold use of vivacious colours and geometric shapes from the Memphis Design movement. These visual elements are incorporated to evoke a sense of youthful energy and possibility. This work aims to capture the essence of maintaining a playful spirit while navigating the complexities of life.
