David Ellsworth

Starting life as an illustrator nearly 30 years ago David’s life evolved across many careers, Software Programming, children’s author, a law degree, and even race-car engineering, finally he has moved back to his first love of Art. Now, however, with a wealth of knowledge that will enable him to explore and evolve a vision that will see beyond the distraction of the obvious and enable him to capture each unique aspect of his design with close observation and engagement.
He has chosen to work in steel because of its unerring and commanding portrayal of strength. It’s a dynamic medium that reflects the weathering of nature and hence is perfect for exploring and capturing strong movement and life.
End of the Race
In this striking sculpture, a sleek racecar emerges from the raw, rust-coloured steel, capturing the energy and motion of speed – a moment frozen in time. The car’s design conveys precision and engineering, yet its gradual transformation into a patina of rust speaks to how innovation, once cutting-edge, eventually becomes obsolete. The sculpture captures both the power and fragility of progress, reminding us that even the most advanced technology will one day yield to the march of time.
