THE GREAT WAVE AND I
Inspired by Japanese art and a recent trip to Japan in 2024, visiting one of the originals of ‘The Great Wave of Kanagawa’ by Hokusai.
Traditionally it depicts a life journey of conquering our fears on the waves and knowing that life will throw many waves our way for us to conquer every time but in Japan perhaps the wave of Western influence slowly creeping in to change Japanese culture.
To me the wave represents newness, freshness and change. Perhaps the need for a great wave of compassion for humanity.
Come and see for yourself at SWELL Sculpture Festival, Pacific Parade, Currumbin 12th – 21st September.
