SWELL 2025 ARTWORK
Rising Beach Worm (Escaping Microplastics)
Crafted from recycled plastics, Rising Tide captures the beach worm (scale 100:1) a silent sentinel of Australia’s shores, emerging from the sand. This sculpture symbolises resilience amid the growing crisis of microplastic pollution infiltrating marine ecosystems. As plastics break down, they threaten sea life and coastal habitats, disrupting the delicate balance of oceanic food chains. By transforming waste into art, this piece urges reflection on human impact and the urgent need for change to protect the unseen, yet essential, creatures of our shores.
