chainsaw newton

Chainsaw Newton is a sculptor working predominantly with reclaimed timber, transforming discarded beams and weathered wood into expressive forms.
Rooted in his local environment his practice responds to coastlines, bushland, tides & the quiet labour of human use & re-use.
Using his arsenal of eponymous power tools and hand tools, he balances raw energy with careful restraint, allowing grain, scars, and history to guide each work.
Sustainability underpins his process with materials sourced from fallen trees, demolition sites and salvage.
Newton’s sculptures sit between abstraction & place, inviting viewers to read landscape, memory and time within the wood through weight, scale & tactile presence.
