What was the inspiration behind your piece for SWELL Sculpture Festival 2023?
From the 1st time I saw a Monaro and Torana as a young boy, I thought the guard flutes looked alot like shark gills and the front end of an XB Falcon looked like a sharks nose. I recently made a BBQ from Holden Monaro parts and this inspired me to create Shark Rod. I had the parts lying around so they were just asking to be put together to make the sculpture….it was fate
Is sustainability important for you and your work?
90% of parts used for the sculpture were left over from car restoration projects I’ve completed over the past few years.
What goes in the bowl first… milk or cereal?
Cereal of course
When is your favourite time of the day to create art?
All day any day any where
Cold or warm weather and why?
I love all the seasons cause I spend most summers swimming in the ocean and boating yet I love sitting by the fire or just rugged up watching a movie in winter.
What does it mean to you to be a featured artist in SWELL Sculpture Festival?
I feel extremely honoured and greatful for the opportunity and also for giving me the justification for building the sculpture and showing to the public.
What is your easy-to-watch movie?
I enjoy all comedy’s
What was the biggest challenge you faced during the creation of your artwork?
The time it has taken and physical effort invested in the piece.
