MEET JACO ROELOFFS

What was the inspiration behind your piece for SWELL Sculpture Festival 2022?

Potholes created by water.

The main inspiration for the sculpture is the effect moving water has on earth. I am intrigued by the way water vortices create organic shapes from layered earth and stone.

Layers in soil and stone

The layers that form over the years has a story to tell about the climate, seasons and events of the point in time it was formed.

Water vortices
