An Ocean of Love draws on ancient mythology in which the oyster is associated with Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty. The form becomes a vessel for divine femininity, creation, and desire, holding space for tenderness and strength. Oyster shells evoke protection and emergence, suggesting love as something guarded and generative. The shell’s layered, spiraling form speaks to growth shaped by experience, how pressure and irritation can give rise to something precious. The work invites viewers to reflect on love’s origins, born of the sea, shaped by time, and endlessly renewed.
