Description
Dorman’s Waders are symbiotic hybrids of man-made boats and bird legs. In these particular works he presents mycelial figures as sympathetic life forms trying to find a new place to belong, conveying a sense of meandering domesticity in the Waders’ feet and bowed heads. Dorman uses heat and hammers to create dynamic textures and shapes in steel, bronze and copper. He employs the combined strengths of these materials and the softness of organic forms to imagine an evolutionary response to the enforced dislocation of peoples due to conflict and climate change.
