Theropod is a sculpture representing avian life throughout history. The outdoor version of this sculpture has an integrated speaker which plays the songs of numerous Australian birds, inviting visitors to identify these calls themselves or by using the fantastic Merlin Bird ID App. This smaller indoor sculpture pays homage to the wonderful world of birds and their remarkable ascent from ground dwelling dinosaurs to the 828 species of birds we have in Australia today, 45% of which are only found in Australia. About 50 of these species are considered threatened.
