Jan Brown’s work is inspired by limpets, small marine creatures that cling firmly to coastal rock surfaces. Limpets play an important role in maintaining healthy ocean ecosystems by grazing on algae, preventing rock surfaces from becoming overgrown and creating space for other marine life to thrive. Hand-woven from weather-resistant copper wire. Installed in groups, the sculptures suggest shelter, connection, and coexistence. Together, they reflect the resilience of coastal communities and the delicate balance that sustains life within our shared environment.
