About the Artist
Madi Whyte is a Victoria-based artist whose work draws on the open, finite terrain of rural Australia. Working primarily in metalwork, Whyte explores the physical language of the medium, its edges, planes, and deliberate severs, to question how space is composed, divided, and perceived.
Central to this practice is the use of line and colour as active, disruptive forces. Rather than describing form, line performs it, cutting through surfaces and establishing tension. These elements contrast and distort, pushing against the eye’s instinct to resolve what it sees, holding the work in productive ambiguity.
