Description
This totem is in part, an homage to my craft. Its red clay base layer with pot rims exposed, symbolise pottery made by my predecessors. Each segment of the totem contains patterns, carvings and marks made by hand and by tool, like many potters before me.
Some pieces are raw, some have an oxide wash and all high fired, to honour the beauty of the clay body. The totem offers some of the many surfaces possible in ceramics, some with stories and meanings, some purely for their beauty and joyfulness.
