Description
At a local car-park, Sam encountered two bush stone-curlews — long-legged birds with knees that bend opposite to humans. Known for their eerie, childlike wails, these birds typically mate for life. Whilst one sat on the eggs inside a fluorescent fenced-off area, the partner stood alert nearby. This vivid moment inspired Sam’s work, which uses neon colours and lighting to reflect the tension between the birds’ natural instincts and the encroaching urban landscape. As habitats shrink, these resilient birds adapt, embodying survival in the face of humanity’s changing environment.
