Description
The artist created this work as a reflection of their complex relationship with their racial identity as an Australian with Chinese ancestry. The work features a collection of packaging and objects from the artists home. Together they represent the artists pride in their Asian heritage whilst also reflecting feelings of observation rather than a true sense of belonging. The lucky cat was purchased by the artist two years ago from the Exotic Asian Groceries in Mermaid Beach for Lunar New Year. The painting style is inspired by Chinese woodblock prints.
