Land Art Installation with Greywacke Rock

Group Build Led by Shannon Best

“Ballún Muñal Buńdan” – where every stone tells a story, and every ripple sings a song of the river’s journey.” In the heart of Yugambeh country, where the Nerang River flows, Ballún Muñal Buńdan — a Yugambeh term for “River Rock” — weaves through time. The “Ballún Muñal Buńdan” art installation captures the essence of this sacred river, featuring a central piece crafted from a river rock, symbolizing the lifeline of the Traditional Owners. Encircled by four concentric circles meticulously assembled from local greywacke, the installation evokes the serene ripples observed on calm waters and reverberation of time. Through this artistic endeavor, the interconnectedness of culture, community, and the natural world is beautifully portrayed, bridging past and present in a timeless flow of resilience and reverence.
