FUCHSIA DEPLOYMENT
A book unfolds its pages like a bird to convey the ideas of its creator. When we open a book we get on this flight that the writer’s imagination invites us. There are thousands of books in the Helensvale Library. What would happen if all its sheets were unfolded at the same time? Without a doubt, the sum of the energies of the writers would show us a universe of wonderful ideas!
Inspired by this creative energy that lives in the library, I imagined the deployment of something simple like a colour. FUCHSIA DEPLOYMENT is the materialisation of a dialogue between literature and the visual arts and what better place could there be for this dialogue than the beautiful airspace offered by the atrium of the Helensvale Library.
ARTIST – ALEJANDRO PROPATO
As an architect and as an artist, Alejandro is interested in observing the relationship between people and their everyday environment, particularly the outdoor space in which people spend time. Potentially any space, anywhere, in any city is a rich source for inspiration to develop new projects. Open and public spaces crave installations of grand dimensions, therefore the scale in which Alejandro has chosen to work. He confronts the public directly without any artistic institution in between. The audience is not filtered in anyway. All passers-by, with different degrees of sensitiveness, with their own inner world, desires and opinions, are equally exposed to the installation.
Alejandro´s art work obscures the line between fiction and reality. He creates a landscape in which the viewer can feel part of the dream. Alejandro subtly highlights the spirit of nature in the urban space. The strong and simple image reaches us and wakes us up, inviting us to participate for few seconds on his fictional scene.
His installations are only complete with the audiences view, with their participation, their eye meandering through the space. It is the viewer, catching a glimpse or studying a detail, who becomes the final missing piece of his artwork.
