Altered Tides: The Gold Coast Is Your Oyster

Join us at dusk for stories, art and creative conversations about living and playing in our waterways and bay and the futures we can imagine together.

This one-off event starts with a short immersive walk among SWELL sculptures, we then return to the Smalls Gallery for conversations and tales with artistic, scientific and cultural storytellers, and an invitation to join in making art with oysters.

We explore everyday relationships, playing in our water city, and how oysters, people and places are fostering the courage, cooperation and creativity we need in a climate changing world.

How do you play in our water city?

Altered Tides: The Gold Coast Is Your Oyster brings together a collaborative group of marine scientists, First Nations knowledge holders, artists, architects, conservationists, and community members for conversations and stories that nurture our sense of belonging, reciprocity and stewardship.

More about Altered Tides

Altered Tides events series are a partnership between Griffith University, Gecko Environment Council and SWELL Sculpture Festival, supported by Griffith’s Climate Action Beacon. We bring together Indigenous knowledge, climate and coastal sciences, beach cultures and the arts to support people and their communities in responding to the key theme of climate changes and our coastal way of life.
