Karl S. Williams & Band
Join us for the final night of SWELL 2023, as Karl S Williams and his band close the festival.
Karl S. Williams – singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, visual artist and poet. A genre defying, multifaceted and award-winning musician, Karl is an artist that you never saw coming. As a performer, he wears his heart on his sleeve – at once beautifully vulnerable then transcendent – delivering universal truths through music with a powerful conviction that takes your breath away. A Karl S. Williams’ performance – either as a solo artist or with his band – is frequently referred to as a visceral and ‘spiritual experience’. It leaves an audience slightly altered in the best way possible. This is blues, roots, folk, and a unique Australian distillation of Americana (if you will)… but nothing quite like you have ever heard before.
Karl’s music is steeped in the swamp water of the cane country of Northern NSW, the landscape of his childhood. Timeless, deeply rooted in tradition yet ever conversant with the present, his songs are a distillation of life, love and the human condition. For Karl, music is an urgent calling and the solution is, to love more.
