Join SWELL artist Jamal Galanopoulos for a hands-on workshop where you’ll craft your small cane and twine animal sculpture—perfectly sized to take home. Whether it’s a playful bird, a curious fox, or a graceful fish, you’ll learn to shape a cane and twine wire into a charming creature of your choice. No prior experience is needed; just bring your creativity and leave with a delightful piece of art.

Jamal Galanopoulos investigates how climate change affects biodiversity and encourages communication between people and animals. He highlights the vulnerability of species in a fast changing world by capturing the delicate balance of nature through elaborate hand made sculptures. His work is a powerful reminder of how intertwined we are with nature and how vital environmental care is. Jamal Galanopoulos asks viewers to consider their part in protecting the planet’s biodiversity by fusing form and message.

More about the Fringe Pavilion at Wallace Nicoll Park  
The Fringe Pavilion is home of the SWELL Fringe and bar, located in Wallace Nicoll Park, Currumbin Beach. The Fringe Pavilion will come alive each evening with artistic programming such as live music, performance and masterclasses, plus the bar will be open daily from 12pm. Our wonderful food trucks will satisfy all of your cravings. Please note the Fringe Pavilion is a large tent, so if it’s chilly make sure you rug up.
