Experience a night of toe-tapping tunes and vintage flair at SWELL 2025 with two unforgettable live acts. Experience the vibrant sounds of The Gypsy Cats, a night of infectious rhythms and captivating melodies awaits! Blending uptempo swing, gypsy bossa, traditional jazz ballads, and whimsical French waltzes, their vibrant sound puts a fresh spin on the classic Manouche style.
Then travel back in time as the Slips & The F.W.’s bring the roaring spirit of 1920s New Orleans to with a swingin’ cocktail of Early Jazz, Ragtime, and Blues. Celebrating the sounds of Clarence Williams, Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller and more, they fling forth flavourful favourites with French Quarter flair. Hot, brassy and just a little bit naughty served with a wink and a washboard.

Hailing from the vibrant music scene of Brisbane, The Gypsy Cats came together in 2016 and embarked on a musical journey that has seen them become a dominant force in Australia’s gypsy jazz landscape. The lineup for SWELL Sculpture Festival 2025 boasts the talents of Rory Dollard on lead guitar, Mircha Mangiacotti on rhythm guitar, and Roberto Fontana on trumpet. The Gypsy Cats have meticulously curated a diverse repertoire that showcases their unique interpretation of the gypsy jazz genre. Their shows include infectious uptempo swing and enchanting gypsy bossa to heartfelt traditional jazz ballads and the romance of French waltz.

The Fringe Pavilion is home of the SWELL Fringe and bar, located in Wallace Nicoll Park, Currumbin Beach. The Fringe Pavilion will come alive each evening with artistic programming such as live music, performance and masterclasses, plus the bar will be open daily from 12pm. Our wonderful food trucks will satisfy all of your cravings. Please note the Fringe Pavilion is a large tent, so if it’s chilly make sure you rug up.
