Our Beaches Planter ‘Urchins’
Lauren Curtis is working with the City of Gold Coast’s Our Beaches to share this environmental sculptural installation to educate us all, especially the young artists in our communities about the importance of dune vegetation at the beach. A very important matter here on the Gold Coast and for coastal towns across the world.
Discover the why’s and wow’s about dune plants and how they help animals have houses and keep the form of our beaches intact. The positive environmental impacts and what we can do to help!
You will see a series of planter urchins as temporary beds for native dune plants and read about why sand dune vegetation is so cool!
Our Beaches is a new program developed by City of Gold Coast to engage the community in understanding and looking after our beaches. The program currently involves regular community dune planting activities, free yoga and beach clean sessions and school holiday activities.
