Description
The ocean is changing as water temperatures rise due to global warming. Well established ecologies are vanishing as species disappear and others take their place. One example is the giant kelp forests that are dying out in the waters surrounding southern Australia. Swarms of sea urchins are appearing in their place, eating everything in their path and creating “barrens” where majestic forests of kelp once grew. While these creatures can provide new sources of food and economic benefits, what is the real cost, and what changes lie ahead in future?
