Description
John Nesirky explores the connection of sound and memory. Recalling his early experiences as a migrant living within the unfamiliar sights and sounds of the North Queensland tropics. Nesirky uses the Cicada as a metaphor for memories triggered by the background soundscape of the region; in particular the distinctive call of these fascinating insects.

About the Artist
John Nesirky is a Townsville based visual artist and musician. His time spent building and repairing Timber boats has influenced his work. Bending and shaping timber has led him to push the medium to its physical limits. His recent works explore the use of veneers taken to fractions of millimetres, resulting in translucent and flexible forms.
