Description
The Grot is a playful and intuitive work created from memory, referencing a domestic interior scene. The figure, standing by the bath, feels the water’s temperature before preparing to submerge. The piece explores themes of domesticity, caregiving, and movement, with layers of degradation and surface intervention revealing and uncovering the figure through multiple revisions.

About the Artist
Eve Fairhall is a Melbourne-based multidisciplinary artist working across painting, glass, printmaking, and sculpture. Their practice investigates themes of materiality, power dynamics, and the tension between concealment and revelation. Engaging with sociological frameworks and intuitive processes, their work examines dominance, submission, performance, and memory through experimental approaches to materials. A graduate of the ANU School of Art and Design, they have exhibited locally and internationally, including during an exchange at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Their evolving practice reflects a deep interest in the transformative possibilities of material exploration.
