About the Artist
Lauren Hotson is an Australian artist creating on Bundjalung country (NSW Northern Rivers), where she transforms clay into timeless expressions of nature’s beauty. Her journey began in childhood and deepened through global experiences in Bali, Japan, and Byron Bay. In 2014, she balanced managing her digital media agency with an internship at Gaya Ceramic Arts Center, enriching her artistic practice. Hotson’s work has been showcased in residencies and exhibitions, including her Anagama wood-fired ceramics in Japan (2019), finalist positions in the Muswellbrook Art Prize (2020), North Coast Ceramics Award (2024, 2025), SWELL Smalls Art Prize (2024), and her first solo exhibition in Byron Bay (2024). Inspired by the fragility and resilience of the natural world, her intricate creations reflect environmental reverence and a meditative connection to clay. Each piece embodies her belief in preserving nature’s complexity while celebrating its beauty.
