Description
As a sweet floral scent wafted through the air, these delicate spray roses were painted to showcase their moment in full bloom. The soft mark making is a meditation on the beauty of everyday objects, while the brisk alla prima, or wet-on-wet, style highlights the impermanence of fresh flowers.

About the Artist
Molly Stephenson finds beauty in the simple objects and landscapes of urban life. Drawing from her 20 year background in cosmetics design, she enjoys clean colour palettes alongside rich textures of oil paint. Growing up between the United States and Australia, Stephenson gained an instinctual sense of place with an eye for detail. With delicate mark making, her paintings capture a sense of ease that invites viewers to imagine the scent of fresh flowers or a warm breeze on the skin. Molly Stephenson is an alumna of Colorado State University, Fort Collins, graduating with a Bachelor of Business in 2011 and she is currently studying her Masters of Visual Arts at the Queensland College of Arts, Meanjin/Brisbane. Her work has been privately collected and exhibited in selected group shows in Queensland.
