Description
Informed by the artist’s PhD research centred on activism and children’s agency, this series explores social change as influenced by the sights we see, the stories we hear, and the (marginalised) narratives that are erased.
Abstract portraits, in which pre-existing ideas of portraiture were disrupted, were one of the ways through which Rhea Creado encouraged children to challenge their ways of knowing and perceiving the world around them. In this series, the artist reflects further on this, and the notion of unlearning as a step towards re-imagining and social change.
