About Shaun Hossack, founder and creative director of Juddy Roller

An expert on street art and urban culture, Hossack commissions artists to transform blank walls into vivid works of art that inspire communities, elevate tourism and deliver moments of joy via his Juddy Roller Studios.

Hossack is well known across Australia as one of the foremost experts on street art, urban culture, and placemaking. As the Artistic Director of Juddy Roller – an influential agency that specialises in public art, murals, art direction, and curatorial practices – he’s at the vanguard of the national urban contemporary art movement.

Founder of Australia’s internationally acclaimed Silo Art Trail, Wall to Wall Festival, and other major projects, Shaun has commissioned artists from around the globe to transform countless walls, towns, and entire buildings both indoors and outdoors, into priceless works of art that inspire communities, attract tourism, boost economies, and bring moments of joy to people’s lives.

Time and again, Hossack has secured large grants and funding opportunities from government bodies on a local, state, and national level, to help fund projects in urban and rural settings. Hossack also teams up with large corporate partners and major events including, The Australian Grand Prix, Australian Open, Balenciaga, Instagram, Hilton Hotels, and many more. Through his vast network of supporters, he’s had the chance to support cities, towns, festivals, and cultural movements in ways never before possible. Full-day workshop with Shaun Hossack, Founder and Creative Director, Juddy Roller.

Curated topic – Transforming cities through public art.

Join legendary public artist Shaun Hossack who works predominantly in very large-scale public murals,  for an immersive full-day workshop focusing on CREATING A PROPOSAL and PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT.

During the workshop, you will talk and work through the following steps to building a public art proposal.

Creating a public art proposal;

  • Interacting with the Client
  • Understanding the brief
  • Developing concepts and artistic rationale
  • Risk Management
  • Quote
  • Build a proposal

Portfolio Development;

Throughout the day Shaun will spend time with each participant and offer advice regarding their portfolio.

WORKSHOP GUIDE

9.30 am – 10.00 am Introductions, meet, greet, and morning tea.
10.00 am – 12.30 pm  You will learn about Shaun’s process of creating a proposal for a large scale mural as listed above
12.30 pm – 1.00 pm  Lunch + mingle
1.00 pm – 4.00 pm Guided by Shaun you will apply your new knowledge to a respond to a public street art brief by creating a proposal             
  During the workshop, Shaun will spend time with each participant and offer advice regarding your portfolio

Note for attendees.

When applying to attend this workshop you are invited to submit your portfolio, CV, and examples of proposals you have created in the past (if applicable), your biography, and 250 words or less telling us why you want to participate in the workshop. 

  • Bring along with you your preferred design medium eg laptop, iPad, pens, pencils, paper etc.
  • Bring a refillable water bottle and sun hat
  • Catering will be provided
  • All other materials will be provided
