Wire & Wine with Russell Solomon
Participants will learn skills on how to manipulate wire, obtaining smooth bending. They will learn the principles of contour drawing and design. Also participants will learn the skills to create a hanging (Alexander Calder style) mobile. At the end of the workshop attendees will take home a three dimensional mobile of a dolphin chasing five fish.

More about Russell Solomon
Russell Solomon was born into an artistic family, most notably his Grandfather, Lance Solomon. Under his tutelage Russell followed his passion and honed his drawing skills. After a life of drawing Russell discovered Wire as a three dimensional line and created his first wire Sculpture in 1989. Using wire as a medium for expression, for drawing, offered Solomon a new level of tangibility and engagement to his art. In 1996 he pursued a fulltime career as an artist, exhibiting extensively, exploring the possibilities of the medium and conducting workshops in schools and broader community around Australia. His work is represented in private and corporate collections worldwide.

The Fringe Pavilion is home of the SWELL Fringe and bar, located in Wallace Nicoll Park, Currumbin Beach. The Fringe Pavilion will come alive each evening with artistic programming such as live music, performance and masterclasses, plus the bar will be open to the public daily from 12 – 8pm. Our wonderful food vendors will be open to satisfy all of your cravings. Please note the Fringe Pavilion is a large tent, so if it’s chilly make sure you rug up.
