CALLING ALL ARTISTS TO APPLY FOR
SWELL SCULPTURE FESTIVAL 2023!
Entries are now open for the 21st annual SWELL Sculpture Festival.
With over $32,500 in Awards, additional Artist subsidies,
programming, and installation support available.
SWELL is Queensland’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition; we invite you to submit your application to exhibit in the upcoming SWELL Sculpture Festival 8 – 17 September 2023.
The annual exhibition which embodies that festival atmosphere has evolved to be one of Australia’s most celebrated cultural events, attracting a vast and diverse audience each year to the iconic shores of Currumbin Beach, Queensland, to enjoy the open-air sculptural experience.
SWELL is Queensland’s premier outdoor sculpture exhibition and presents Australian and international artists to captivate the hearts and minds of a large audience. Set between two iconic giant rock formations along the Gold Coast’s Currumbin Beach, the vast coastal landscape encourages submissions of thought-provoking and sculpturally impressive works. Each sculpture tells a story, and collectively these stories emanate the essence of SWELL.
Our invited curatorial panel shares and respects SWELL’s values of an open entry process, inviting all Artists to express their ideas and create sculptures that convey stories unique to them. SWELL provides an opportunity for Artists to think big, brave, bold and daring when preparing their submission.
“SWELL is at the forefront of delivering arts and culture in Queensland, celebrating the unique narratives by local, national and international Artists, as together we connect people, art and place. Audiences identify with the diversity of works presented and the Artists who think differently about the world and challenge themselves through the presentation of meaningful sculptures and artistic commentary”. says Artistic Director Natasha Edwards

Exhibiting at SWELL is a fantastic opportunity for our Artists to network, build relationships, gather inspiration and show their art to a diverse and new audience.
Here’s what some of our Artists have to say about exhibiting at
SWELL Sculpture Festival:
“A new source of opportunities, exposure for career advancement, and inspiration to create future works”.
“It has allowed me to gain more fans as well as future project opportunities with artists that I met there”.
